You’re here because you’re looking for a place that feels like home for someone you love.

We understand. And we’re here to help.

Every family’s story is different. Where does yours begin?

A home. Not a facility.

Highview was started by a nurse who believed people living with dementia didn’t need an institution; they needed a home.

Today, Highview is home to seniors, people living with dementia, and adults with developmental disabilities. Each person lives within a small community designed around the rhythms of their everyday life.

Three Communities. One Philosophy.

Each Highview home has its own character, but the same commitment to care. Choose the location best for your family.

A Home for Life

Most people never need to move again. Care evolves with them, right through to end of life if the family wishes.

We understand that you have many questions.

Here are some of the ones we hear most often.

  • There’s rarely one single moment. More often, it’s a gradual shift. You’re watching more closely. Sleeping less. Worrying more. If you’re asking whether it’s time, that often means things are already changing. This isn’t about giving up. It’s about making sure your person is safe, supported, and cared for.

  • This is very common. We work closely with families to plan the transition thoughtfully and in a way that feels manageable. Once settled, many people adjust more quickly than families expect. A warm, familiar home and consistent daily rhythms help make that possible.

  • Yes. Whenever possible, we support couples in remaining together, even when one person needs more care than the other. At our London and Kitchener homes, couples may live together in the same suite or choose separate suites, depending on availability. At our Lucan home, dementia care is located within the same building, allowing couples to remain in the same community as needs change.

  • Highview is a private retirement home, not part of the government-funded long-term care system. Our homes are intentionally small, allowing our team to truly know each person and their daily rhythms. Families connect with us directly rather than through a provincial placement process, and timelines are often more flexible.

We’ve walked this road with hundreds of families.

Practical advice and honest guidance from our team, for families at every stage of the journey.
