At Highview, each house is led by its Director. The Director oversees and decides upon matters related to resident assessment, admission and ongoing care. Under normal circumstances during the day shift, there is one Registered staff serving each of the houses (Franklin and Chapin). In addition, during the day shift (and depending on need), there are four Personal Support Workers (PSW) serving in each house. During the evening shift, there is one Registered resident care staff and at least two PSW’s serving each house. At night, the cottages have been designed so that each house becomes a single residence of 24. During this time, each cottage will have a designated PSW. However, doors that link the two cottages will allow them to support and assist each other as needed. The care staff to resident room ratios are:
- Day: 1 to 5.2
- Evening: 1 to 8.6
- Night: 1 to 13
In addition to the nursing residence care staff there are other people present to enhance the activities of daily living such as cooks, therapists, entertainers and volunteers.
